A woman has ignited a fierce online debate after refusing to let her neighbours use her driveway. Lisa shared the story on TikTok and it has since racked up more than 332,000 views.
The admin assistant regularly posts tales sent in by fans, but this one struck a chord. A woman had been asked by her neighbours if they could use part of her driveway to park their car, since she “usually had some space left”. But after she politely declined - saying it would be too tight and she wanted to keep it free for guests - things turned frosty.
“This one was very one-sided to the lady - the comments are things like ‘no means no, it’s your drive so you can do what you like’,” said Lisa, 38, from Torbay, Devon . “And some even suggest that the lady charges for the space to get them to back off. I personally feel that it’s wrong for the neighbours to even ask, especially as the lady states she doesn’t really know them past saying good morning.

“If it were a one-off emergency, then I get it, but for an indefinite amount of time, I think it’s unfair to ask. On the other hand, I completely understand how much of a nightmare parking can be if you don’t have a big enough drive or one at all, and it’s a busy area. It can be so frustrating.
“I myself used to live opposite a school and constantly would have my driveway blocked, and even had a couple of occasions where people pulled into my driveway to let the kids out. I just accepted it as part of the package when you buy a house near a school - but it just shows the level of entitlement some people have.”
The woman at the centre of the drama lives in a house with a single driveway. Her next-door neighbours recently bought a second car, but don’t have space for it. They asked if they could temporarily park on her drive since she only owns one car and “has plenty of space”.
But she said there isn’t “plenty of space” - and while a second car might just fit, it would be too tight. She told them no, explaining she didn’t want a “temporary” arrangement becoming permanent. The neighbours then branded her “selfish” and “unfriendly” and have since started parking right up against her property line, moaning to others and making snide comments about “community spirit”.
Things escalated further when other neighbours got involved, asking why she couldn’t just share the space - forcing her to explain that it would block her in. Lisa’s video has since sparked 15,000 views and 6,000 comments, with viewers fiercely divided.
Leigh said: “No and no explanation required.”
Hugh added: “They can park in the driveways of the neighbours who commiserate with them.”
Eya wrote: “I think they’re quite rude.”
Curt said: “They bought a second car and expected to park it on someone else’s property?”
Desmond added: “It’s your driveway. You decide. Not them.”
But others said maybe there could be something in it for both parties. Ann said: “They need to pay you a monthly fee.”
Florence asked: “If you can get two cars on your drive, why can’t they?”
Someone else commented: “Rent them the space. Determine a fair price and charge rent.”
And Lorraine added: “Or you could rent them the parking space. Just a thought.”
